Optimizing Product Pages with Eevy AI

13 min read

Your product page is where purchase decisions happen. Every element on that page either moves a customer toward buying or creates friction that pushes them away. Review and UGC sections are among the highest-impact elements you can optimize, because they directly address the trust gap between "interested" and "ready to buy."

This guide covers a strategic approach to product page optimization with Eevy AI: which sections to add, where to place them, and how to measure the impact. For broader product page optimization, see our blog post on product page optimization.

The Core Product Page Section Stack

For most Shopify stores, the optimal product page includes three Eevy AI sections: 1. Review summary (above the fold or near add-to-cart) — gives customers an instant overview without scrolling. 2. Main review section (below product details) — a slider, carousel, grid, or list where customers can browse individual reviews. 3. Media section (near the review section) — photo gallery, video carousel, or image reviews that provide visual social proof. Start with these three and let the genetic algorithm optimize each independently.

Placement Strategy: Above vs Below the Fold

Place your review summary and star rating above the fold — these are quick-scan elements that build confidence early. The main review section belongs below the product description, where customers who want more detail will naturally scroll. Media sections (photo/video) work best adjacent to the main review section or as a standalone gallery. Avoid placing too many sections above the fold, which can push the add-to-cart button down on mobile. The genetic algorithm tests placement effectiveness, but starting with a logical structure gives it a better baseline.

Section Type Recommendations by Product Category

Fashion and apparel: Image reviews + review carousel (visual proof of fit and style). Beauty and skincare: Review list with detailed text + video reviews (results and application). Electronics: Review grid with keyword filtering (feature-specific feedback). Food and beverages: Review carousel + highlighted review (taste and quality validation). Home goods: Review slider + image gallery (in-context usage photos). These are starting recommendations — the genetic algorithm may find that your specific audience responds differently, which is exactly the point.

Measuring Section Impact

In the Eevy AI dashboard, each section shows its RPV contribution. Compare RPV for sessions that saw the section versus sessions that did not (available in Analytics > Section Attribution). Look for: RPV lift — how much the section increases RPV; Engagement rate — what percentage of visitors interact with the section (scroll, click, swipe); Scroll depth — how far visitors scroll, indicating whether the section placement is being seen. If a section has high impressions but low engagement, it may need a different layout type. If it has high engagement but low RPV lift, it may be entertaining but not driving purchases.

Iterating Based on Data

Check your section performance monthly. If a section's RPV contribution has plateaued, consider adding a new section type (for example, add keyword reviews if you only have a carousel). If a section is underperforming, check if it has enough reviews to be compelling — a carousel with 3 reviews feels sparse. You can also try moving sections to different positions on the page. The genetic algorithm handles within-section optimization, but page-level layout decisions (which sections to include and where) are strategic choices that benefit from human judgment.

Wrapping Up

Product page optimization is an ongoing process, not a one-time setup. Start with the core section stack (summary + main reviews + media), let the genetic algorithm optimize each section, then iterate monthly based on your dashboard data.
